Keeping Your Baby's Skin Clean and Healthy All the Time
Babies generally have very sensitive skin. Anything can irritate their skin, such as nappies. In fact, diaper rash is one of the most common problems that most parents have to deal with. Therefore, even if you buy the most expensive nappy in the market, your baby can still have rashes if you do not take the proper precautions. Hence, it is very important to take all the necessary measures to keep your baby's skin healthy and rash-free at all times.
Nappies can cause rashes by rubbing against babies' skin, fitting too tightly, or if left unchanged for too long. Furthermore, exposing the baby's skin to urine or stool can cause chemical burn, which can also result in irritation. There are disposable nappies that can chafe baby's bottoms as well, while soap can also harm to baby's skin. For this reason, parents should make sure that whenever they buy products for babies, there is always some form of security and assurance that they will get the best value for their money.
To prevent your child from having nappy rash, it is important to wash her bottom each time you change them. You can do this with some cotton and a bottle of cleanser for easy cleanup. Then, pat the nappy area with soft cloth or cotton and wait for it to completely dry out before you change her nappy. This should be done as often as can be, like every hour or so. For this reason, it is always advisable for parents to have a good supply of nappies. It would also be better to avoid using plastic nappies, as these are more prone to causing friction on the skin. Using zinc oxide ointment, however, may help prevent rash from occurring. Moreover, doctors do not advise the use of talcum powder or cornstarch. This is because cornstarch causes yeast infection, while talcum powder can get inside the baby's lungs.
